I can't help what you may, or may not, do with the following
information, I only put it here for instructional purposes.
Additionally, I am in no way affiliated with any true phone
phreaks, because if I were, Id be atleast 6 times cooler.

What is a beige box?- A beige
box is just an average telephone with the wires that connect it
into the wall exposed, allowing you to be able to open anyones
Telco box (explanation later) and make free calls.
Now here is the material you will be using:
*-A corded phone, make sure that it is not cordless and that it
has the (usually white) line that plugs into the wall with it.
*-Wire Cutter, Razor, or scissors.
*-Both types of screwdrivers, Philips and Flathead, because
different phone districts use different types of screws, though
most of them are phillips.
*-Small Flashlight, because odds are you will be doing this at
night.
*-A book bag to carry it all in
Step One - Making your beige box
Take your phone, and find the end of the line that is supposed to
connect it into the wall. Cut the adapter off it has one, or if
not, make a new clean cut. After this you will need to seperate
the two wires that are in there, to do this, very carefully, cut
between the two, making sure not to sever any of the wires. Now,
you need to strip the two wires so that you have plenty of the
copper showing.
Step Two - Selecting a Location and Setting Up
Now you have a beige box, next
you need to find a nice secluded telco box to use it at, and this
is usually best done at night, so bring a small, not too bright,
flash light with you so you can see what you are doing. A telco
box is the grey box that you see on the side of your house that
connects the house to the phone line. After you have found a good
site, making sure traffic, the house you are doing it at, and the
neighbors can't see you, you need to use your screw driver to
open the telco box. Most of the boxes don't use locks, so you
wont have any trouble opening it.
Now that you are inside, you will see a few sets of two screws
connected to colored wires, now carefully disconnect one of the
sets of wires, and replace them with the wires on your beige box.
Now, pick up your phone and see if there is a dialtone, if there
is not one, switch the wires sides and try again. By now it
should be working. Now you have free access to this persons
phones, and who knows who you will call. You can call anyone but
your friends you call from your house, because if the owners
notice and report it to the telephone company, they will see
which calls made on your beige box match up to their records,
which will in turn get you caught. It is a much better idea to
call 900 numbers and the like.
Now, you have finished your mischief and are ready to get going,
well, make sure you put all the wires back where they should be,
because if that persons phone isnt working, the telephone company
worker will come and notice that the wires have been tampered
with, and will more than likely put a little crap lock on the
box.
Pack up your stuff, make sure you have everything, and leave,
making sure no one can see you until you are long gone.
